How to become an instructor?
Start with the book
Read How Seniors Learn AI from start to finish and work through the checklists and exercises. We want instructors who have personally used the tools they will be teaching.
Bring your business or technical experience
Instructors should have a solid business or technical background and be comfortable talking about real-world use of AI at work and at home. Prior teaching, training, or public speaking experience is strongly preferred.
Show your passion for teaching
You should enjoy leading groups, answering questions, and explaining ideas in plain English. Many of our instructors have taught classes, led workshops, preached, or presented at conferences.
Join our community and onboarding
New instructors complete an onboarding process, join our online community, and shadow at least one session (live or recorded). Instructors are expected to travel to local sites and to contribute regularly in the online group by answering questions and sharing tips.

FAQ
Do I need to be an AI expert to teach this?
No. You should have a solid business or technical background and feel comfortable using common AI tools, but you don’t need to be a researcher or programmer. We provide the curriculum, slides, and checklists—you bring clarity, patience, and good teaching skills.
What experience are you looking for in an instructor?
We look for people who have at least one of the following:
Experience teaching, training, preaching, or presenting
Leading workshops or group discussions
Coaching adults or mentoring teams
If you’ve stood in front of a room and helped people learn something new, you’re likely a good fit.
Is travel required?
Yes. Instructors are expected to travel to local senior centers, independent living communities, libraries, and similar sites. Most travel is regional and scheduled in advance, so you can plan around other work and family commitments.
How much time does this take each month?
It varies by instructor. Some lead occasional workshops; others run multi-week series and are more active in the online community. We’ll work with you to match opportunities to your schedule and availability.
How are instructors paid?
Instructors are paid per workshop or series, and details depend on the partner organization and program format. Compensation is discussed during the application and onboarding process.
What does it mean to “contribute to the online community”?
Instructors are expected to:
Join the community platform
Answer participant questions when they can
Share tips, resources, and examples from the field
This helps instructors stay current and refine their knowledge. It also helps seniors keep learning between sessions and builds a supportive network around the program.
